BRIDESHED REVISITED TRAILER

Any film that deals with the topics of forbidden love and the loss of innocence all while being set in pre-WWII era is good in my book. I’m a romantic dreamer by nature (struggling filmmaker type) and a fish and can relate all too well to the above mentioned themes (except the pre WW2 part). As much as I dig the more traditional ‘guy type’ films of Scorsese, Spielberg, De Palma and Tarantino (my personal Fab 4) I am a sucker for love stories with a punch; Titanic, Casablanca, Romancing The Stone, About Last Night, The Last of the Mohicans, True Romance and on and on ………

Emma the fine one.

Based on the 1945 acclaimed novel by Evelyn Waugh, I’m seeing Oscar buzz all around this one. Some films you can just tell. I have the gift. I see the aura in some films. While there are several current front runners (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Australia, Burn After Reading, The Argentine (CHE)), this film looks poised to run with the big dogs despite the limited release in 33 theatres. It’s managed to bring in $339,616 in one week. (the film has brought in $486,132 in just 6 days in 69 theatres.). Hmmmmmm … Put the film in 2700 theatres and you’re looking at a 27,000,000 opening weekend, right ?

Directed by relative unknown Julian Jarrold , yes, the department stores Jarrold’s, and featuring two time Oscar winner (Screenplay and Acting), the always wonderful Emma Thompson.

First day of shooting.

The trailer’s been out for sometime, but I just finally got to seeing it (at the request of a certain someone who said it reminded her of two people we both know very well, cough, cough) Sigh. I’ll let you all decipher that code. Anyways, here’s the trailer. Enjoy it and then run out and see it if you’re fortunate to have in your city.

Also be sure to check out the main site; one of the coolest displays of web design I’ve seen for a film. I’m on this one. Give me some tale of love and throw in any genre you want, horror, adventure, war or just plain old class struggle and I’m sold.

Maybe it’s my own life that makes me want to see these things work out for our onscreen lovers. But, I haven’t read the book nor have any clue how this one ends. So no spoilers !
